AppleIQ Solutions is changing that narrative, right here in South Africa

Broken laptops. Cracked screens. Outdated Macs collecting dust in a cupboard. These aren't just inconveniences — they're environmental time bombs. Electronic devices contain toxic materials like lead, mercury, and cadmium that, when dumped in landfills, leach into soil and groundwater, causing harm that lasts for generations.

South Africa generates hundreds of thousands of tonnes of e-waste annually, with much of it ending up in unregulated dumpsites. The irony? Most of these devices still have usable life left in them. They just need a skilled hand, the right parts, and a commitment to doing things differently.

THE APPLEIQ APPROACH: FOUR PILLARS OF CHANGE

At AppleIQ Solutions, sustainability isn't a marketing afterthought — it's built into every repair ticket, every refurbished device, and every decision made on the workshop floor.

🔧 REPAIR
Expert technicians breathe new life into devices others would throw away — from screen replacements to logic board fixes. A repaired device is always better than a discarded one.

♻️ REUSE
A repaired device is one that doesn't need to be manufactured from scratch — saving raw materials, energy, and emissions in the process.

🔄 REPURPOSE
Old Macs and Apple devices find new lives — as media servers, educational tools, or refurbished business machines — keeping valuable technology in circulation longer.

🌱 RECYCLE
When a device truly reaches end-of-life, responsible material recovery ensures nothing harmful ever enters South Africa's environment.

BY THE NUMBERS

50 million+ tonnes of e-waste generated globally every year

80% of discarded devices could be repaired or repurposed

1 repaired device = up to 80kg of CO₂ emissions avoided

Manufacturing a new laptop produces up to 300kg of CO₂ — repairing one produces a tiny fraction of that

HOW APPLEIQ CLOSES THE LOOP

Every device that comes through our door follows a responsible journey:

Diagnosis & Assessment — Every device is thoroughly assessed to determine the most responsible path: repair, refurbish, or responsible recovery.

Expert Repair — Using quality parts and specialist Apple expertise, devices are restored to full working order — often at a fraction of replacement cost.

Refurbishment & Repurposing — Devices are cleaned, tested, and given new purpose — extending their productive life by years.

Responsible End-of-Life — For devices beyond repair, AppleIQ ensures materials are recovered through responsible e-waste channels. Never a landfill.

A Greener Tomorrow — Each repaired device reduces demand for new manufacturing, conserves precious resources, and keeps toxic materials out of our soil and water.

WHY THIS MATTERS FOR SOUTH AFRICA

South Africa faces unique environmental pressures — from water scarcity to rapidly filling landfill sites. E-waste is one of the fastest-growing waste streams in the country, and without action, the consequences for public health and ecosystems are severe.

By choosing to repair instead of replace, you directly reduce the carbon footprint of your technology use. Beyond the environment, AppleIQ Solutions supports the local economy — skilled repair jobs, refurbished devices accessible to more South Africans, and a culture of care over consumption. This is sustainability that works for people and the planet.

WHAT YOU CAN DO TODAY

The most sustainable device you'll ever own is the one you already have. Before you consider upgrading or discarding your MacBook, iPhone, iPad, or any Apple device, ask yourself: could this be repaired?

AppleIQ Solutions makes it easy to say yes — with expert technicians, quality parts, and a transparent repair process.

Visit us at www.appleiq.co.za
info@appleiq.co.za
+27 73 114 2769

Supporting a greener future, one device at a time.
— AppleIQ Solutions | Smart Repair Solutions

The name AppleIQ Solutions was inspired by the 2009 Apple IQ Test published by technology journalist Paul Venezia. The quiz challenged Apple enthusiasts and IT professionals to test their knowledge of Apple's history, products, and technology. The concept of combining Apple expertise with technical intelligence resonated strongly and eventually inspired the AppleIQ name. Today, AppleIQ Solutions continues that philosophy by delivering professional diagnostics, repairs, upgrades, and support services for Apple devices.

The AppleIQ logo is inspired by the universal power symbol, one of the most recognizable icons in modern technology. Found on computers, smartphones, monitors, servers, and countless electronic devices, it represents the ability to switch a device between on, off, and standby states.

The symbol itself has scientific origins. It is derived from the binary digits 1 and 0, which form the foundation of digital computing. In electrical and computer engineering, 1 traditionally represents an active or energized state, while 0 represents an inactive state. The modern power symbol combines these two concepts into a single icon that has become universally understood across the world.

For AppleIQ Solutions, the symbol carries a deeper meaning.

Every day, we work with devices that have stopped functioning, are performing poorly, or appear beyond repair. Our role is to diagnose problems, restore functionality, and help bring technology back to life. The power symbol reflects that mission — transforming a device from a state of failure or inactivity back into a reliable and productive tool.

Combined with the inspiration behind the AppleIQ name, the logo represents the intersection of knowledge, technology, and solutions. It symbolizes not only powering devices on, but also applying technical intelligence, analytical thinking, and engineering principles to solve complex problems.

At AppleIQ Solutions, we believe that every successful repair begins with understanding. The logo serves as a reminder of our commitment to expertise, innovation, and keeping technology running when it matters most.

AppleIQ Solutions operates as a trading name of Bay Home Improvements, a registered South African company. With a background in IT and Computer Engineering, and currently studying Accounting, I realized that combining technical expertise with practical business experience could create something unique for our community.

From a small setup in Port Elizabeth, we began offering repairs for Apple products—everything from screens and batteries to advanced hardware issues.
